Mitchel Sorin, Principal AIA LEED AP
Mitchel Sorin is the principal owner of Sorin Architecture, PLLC. With over 25 years experience with award-winning architectural firms in the design industry, Mitchel established his own practice in 1994 to provide planning and design solutions to residential and commercial clients with a focus on sustainable environmentally –responsible design.
With his experience at award-winning firms in Atlanta and western North Carolina, Mitchel Sorin brings a broad scope of expertise and knowledge to his practice having been directly involved in the planning and design of a variety of building types. He has a substantial knowledge of the adaptive re-use of existing buildings as well as other sustainable building technologies, including passive solar design, energy efficiency, and natural daylighting. Mitchel is a member of the American Institute of Architects, the US Green Building Council, the WNC Green Building Council, a certified member of the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards and is a LEED accredited professional (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design). He is a past adjunct professor at Western Carolina University, has published several articles on straw bale construction, and has been a guest presenter at various workshops and public forums on “green building”. He graduated with a Bachelor of Environmental Design from Miami University in Ohio and holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Pratt Institute in New York.
